This is one of those messages we never wanted to write.

Due to the forthcoming road closure of the main road from the A40 to the Forest Arms, Garry and I have spent many hours discussing every possible scenario with our senior team. Sadly, and with very heavy hearts, we’ve had to make the incredibly difficult decision to close our lovely little pub from Monday to Thursday, until further notice.

We’re truly sorry for the short notice. We’ve only recently been made aware ourselves and over the past week have been doing everything we can to seek support and solutions,  including contacting MPs and County Council officials. Unfortunately, with many away on holiday, we’ve had very little success so far.

Hospitality is challenging enough at the best of times, but with extremely restricted access and significant costs before we even open the doors, it simply isn’t viable for us to operate midweek right now. Around 90% of our customers normally travel via the closed road, and in all honesty, we wouldn’t expect anyone to attempt a 45-minute official diversion or navigate unsuitable local roads that are, frankly, just not worth the struggle

That said, this is certainly NOT a goodbye... just a mere pause.

Whilst the road closure, we will be trialling opening from Friday at 10am through the weekend, reviewing things after a few weeks to see whether this remains workable until the road fully reopens (whenever that may be!).🙈

If you have an existing booking that falls on one of the affected days, please don’t worry, we will be contacting you over the next day or two to talk through your booking and explore all your options and possible alternatives.

​

A few important notes:

• Our two resident darts teams still need a home, so the bar will be open on Tuesday evenings to host their home games.

• Due to a pre-booked function, we will also be open from 12pm on Tuesday 20th January, with food served throughout the day and evening.

• If you’re considering booking an event and feel confident you can reach, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, we’re always happy to chat things through.

Please keep an eye on our website and social media for updates, we’re staying hopeful (being a thorn in Carmarthen Councils side) and will share any positive news as soon as we have it… I’m sure we’ll be open 7 days a week sooner than you think!
